Flowers, art, and a place to gather. Same steady hand.

One Lot, Three Ways In

Slow work. No shortcuts. Same rule every time.

Blacktop & Bloom takes its name from the street where my partner and I lived for four years without ever meeting — 58 miles apart, somehow never once crossing paths, until we finally did. What we found in each other was a shared love of creative projects and a soft spot for rusty old things: pickup trucks, old tools, farms with a little wear on them.

The garden started in our second summer together — just a few pots of tomatoes and some flowers we weren't sure would make it. They did, and it didn't stop there. What grew out of that is a proper potager garden now: organic vegetables and cut flowers planted in together on purpose, the old-fashioned way.

Everything here still gets grown, made, or hosted the slow way: cut flowers by hand, one bed at a time; a small studio with no rush on the work; an outdoor gathering space that fits a real event without feeling like a rental.

The sculptures in the garden and the artwork aren't decoration for their own sake — they represent the collective creative place that is our home.

House Rule

We don't plan every bed or every brushstroke ahead of time. Some of the best arrangements and pieces here started as one idea and wandered somewhere better — we just let it happen.
